a profusion of orchids surround us in our patio this time of year.. it's as if a patio stager came in and arranged it all to impress prospects.. but no it's just the beauty we live with..

over the weekend we went to summer winds nursery and purchased tomato plants and some herbs for our raised beds.. i looked for plants with two or more plants growing in the small veggie containers, then i carefully separated them and ended up with a total of 33 tomato plants.. you might guess we love homegrown tomatoes, and peg loves to can them and we love to give some away to friends and relies when we have excess.. so time will tell if this is a good move.. we are going to be gone from may 21 to aug 24 as we meander toward Alaska with many stops along the way.. so our home sitters, Carl and Janet will enjoy the tomatoes until we return..

our journey to the light means the further we go north in Canada, The Yukon and Alaska we will have more daylight until we reach Fairbanks where we hear there is 21 hours of daylight each day..
